The Ambassadors Big Band is a swing-era dance band consisting of seventeen instrumentalists and two vocalists playing the hits of the 40's and 50's.
 
Based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, The Ambassadors have been performing throughout the Triangle and Triad area for more than a decade.
 
         
 

About the Artist

Under the direction of Larry Triplett, the Ambassadors revive and recreate the big band music of the Swing Era. Dedicated to the performance of America's greatest popular standards, the Ambassadors Big Band consists of 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, full rhythm section and 2 popular area vocalists, Raleigh Mann and Shelly McVicker. The ensemble specializes in performing arrangements the timeless swing music of such great Big Band leaders as Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Woody Herman, Les Brown, Stan Kenton and many others.

The Ambassadors have been together since 2003 and entertain for wedding receptions, dances, and concerts in the Triangle. They are also affiliated with the United Church of Chapel Hill and enjoy serving their members and the entire community by presenting exciting renditions of tunes from the Great American Songbook, bringing to life both the style and the spirit of this music for audiences of all ages.
 
Audiences range from seniors to university students, who book the big band year-after-year to play for their semester-end parties. With the recent renaissance in popularity of both swing music and ballroom dancing, this versatile band offers a diverse playlist to accommodate the many styles of dance, including the Lindy, Fox Trot, Peabody, Cha-Cha, Tango, Meringue and more. The Ambassadors Big Band thrills concert and ballroom audiences with authentic recreations of swing classics that are lively and danceable!
